Five easy tips to help you stay on track in the New Year

New year’s resolutions are seemingly hard to abide by regardless of how realistic your goals are. Most of us are unable to follow through by the time the next year rolls around. However, promising to be a better version of yourself in the forthcoming year—even if it means taking a small step—can make a huge difference. Changing daily habits, which can be organically incorporated into your routine, will ensure that your new year’s resolutions are met. We have curated five tips that are easy for you to follow so that you can stay fit and become the healthiest version of yourself in 2021.

Nutritious and healthy diet

It goes without saying that following a balanced diet is key in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. So, in your New Year’s resolution to eat healthy, include lots of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins into your diet. Ensure that the foods you incorporate are low in saturated fats, trans fats, cholesterol, salt and sugar. Don’t overlook the nutritional labels on beverages. Note that many beverages contain high quantities of processed sugar and artificial flavors. Instead of opting for your regular carbonated sodas, switch them with healthy sugar-free alternatives such as fruit juice, coconut water, lemon water or unsweetened tea.  Pick up our gift box combos (vitality set, spirit set, and tranquility set) to help you start your moringa journey.

Consume smaller portions more frequently

Eating smaller portions throughout the day may help stabilize blood sugar levels and may aid in a more efficient metabolism when compared to skipping meals or eating large portions. An added benefit of this eating pattern may include an inverse relationship between hunger and feeling full. Decreased hunger due to the consumption of small meals may prevent mindless eating.

 Limit intake of carbohydrates

A limited intake of carbs in your diet may minimize bloating and allow you to incorporate healthier food groups into your diet. Fiber-rich carbs, such as fruits, vegetables, legumes and whole grains are more satiating than refined grains and processed sugars like soda, white rice and white bread. Therefore, in your new year’s resolution, steer clear of unhealthy carbs as much as possible to avoid unwanted weight gain.

Stay hydrated

‘Drinking more water’ is found on almost everyone’s New Year’s resolutions. But abiding by it gets difficult sometimes. Water makes up about 70% of our body and all of our organs require sufficient quantities of water to function properly and efficiently. The importance of drinking enough water throughout the day can't be stressed enough. From flushing out toxins to carrying essential nutrients and oxygen to your cells, there are multiple benefits of staying hydrated. It is recommended to drink at least 8 glasses of water (2 liters) per day. Staying hydrated may help our body and mind to stay fit and active.

Exercise regularly

Speaking of popular New Year’s resolutions, working out has to be on top of the list. There are plenty of compelling reasons for working out daily. Not only does exercise keep you fit physically, it is actually linked to your mental health as well.  It may trigger the release of chemicals in the brain—serotonin, norepinephrine, endorphins, dopamine—that dull pain, lighten mood and relieve stress. At least 20-30 minutes of movement per day is recommended for optimal health.

Incorporating these five easy tips into your daily lifestyle is guaranteed to make a change and help you become the healthiest version of yourself in 2021 and realistically fulfill your New Year’s resolutions.
