How to Choose Moringa Powder: A 6-Point Buyer's Checklist
Moringa powders can look alike in the bag, but they differ in what is in them, where they come from and what a serving really costs. Here are six things you can check on any label before you buy, and how our own powder answers each one.

The checklist
-
Is it certified organic, and does it name the certifier?
Look for a USDA Organic or EU Organic seal and the name of the certifying body. A named certifier lets you look the certificate up yourself.
Ours: certified USDA Organic and EU Organic by Control Union (CU 856565).
-
Does it say where the moringa is grown?
A clear country of origin, and ideally how the leaf is sourced, tells you the brand knows its supply.
Ours: grown on family-owned plantations in Sri Lanka, on a sustainable bought-leaf model.
-
Is it leaf only, with one ingredient?
The ingredient list should read moringa leaf (Moringa oleifera) and nothing else: no fillers, sweeteners or flow agents. Powders made with seed, pod or stem are different products.
Ours: one ingredient, organic moringa leaf, finely ground. Vegan, gluten-free and non-GMO.
-
What colour and taste should it have?
Moringa leaf powder is green, and it tastes mild, green and earthy. A dull brown or yellowish powder is worth a second look.
Ours: mild, green and earthy, so it blends into smoothies and shakes without taking over.
-
Does the label give a serving size in grams?
Teaspoons vary, so a serving in grams lets you compare bags fairly and work out how long one will last.
Ours: one serving is about 2 teaspoons (4 g). The 8 oz canister holds about 56 servings and the 16 oz pouch about 113.
-
What does one serving cost?
Divide the price by the number of servings, not by the ounces alone: a cheaper bag with a bigger serving can cost more per use.
Ours: each product page shows the price per 4 g serving for every size, and larger sizes and multi-packs cost less per serving.
Using your powder
How much moringa powder should I start with?
Start with 1 teaspoon a day and work up to about 2 teaspoons (4 g), one full serving. If you are pregnant, nursing or take prescription medication, please check with your healthcare provider first.
How do I mix moringa powder without clumps?
Leaf powder can settle, so blend or shake rather than stir for the smoothest mix. It works well in smoothies, juices, shakes, lattes, oatmeal, yogurt, soups and baking.
Does moringa powder contain caffeine?
No. Pure moringa leaf powder is naturally caffeine-free, so you can use it at any time of day.
Should I choose moringa powder or moringa tea?
Powder is the whole leaf, finely ground, so you eat more of the leaf per serving. Tea is a hot infusion made from the water-soluble part of the leaf. Many people keep both. Shop moringa tea.
